Alright. So we Finally have A Merc with a Monthly back. Not that I dislike cable, but d**n it DP deserves a solo. So We had the warm up with wolvie origins. We were introduced to the then unnamed Pool-O-Vision. We saw DP go to drastic measures and end up beating wolverine (again). We saw him making sure random people were not getting hurt instead of just shooting them, and it wouldn't be a DP story if it didn't at least touch on the whole monster on the inside monster on the outside struggle that in the end IS deadpool. We also saw a Deadpool a bit on the crazier side than what a lot of us are use to. If anything Deadpool has had a bit of sadism in him, a self loathing that was easily identifies but hard to deal with, and an almost inhuman need to be seen and be entertaining. Now it seems we have a deadpool who has spawned halucinations and an alternate personality. Or as I like to call it "the white box". (more on that later)
Alright So let me start off by saying the art fits wonderfully in my oppinion. Basicly deadpool outsmarts an entire skrull ship, owns face, and doesn't bother taking names. The "white box" is much more prevelant in issue one, which really leads me to believe this is a plot device for later, There have been at least two cases between Wolvie Origins and this book where it has identified itself as "I'm you" and it seems to be in no way shape or form in control. It's possible it's ways translation of deadpool's psyche, but I think everyone can agree it seems......off. after ripping off the joker with the bang gun (sorry dan) we are presented with the idea that deadpool is defecting. We all know better of course, but it does beg the question. Who assigned Deadpool to this mission. Remember Deadpool is a registered superhero, who has quite a bit of history with shapechanging ideals (oh image inducer you are missed). After the end of the cable and deadpool run Wade had made a lot of connections on his possibility of greater destiny. Tony stark and Nick fury are the first to names that spring to mind on who would come up with using him. Loose talk is that this book will set in stone the fact that while wade is a funny character, He is someone to be taken seriously.
On a side note, the deadpool saga attempts to unclutter wade's MIXED UP origin. It may be time to just streamline the thing and be done with it.
well there ya have it. thoughts? comments? PMs with indecent offers? =)

Ok i read this today and to be honest was surprised by the ending it caught me off guard, I thought he was going for 'take out a whole skrull ship and super-skrull' to show the heroes he should be considored to be with them on the front line, you know apart of the teams. But then he offers his services to the skrulls, strange, but i liked it.
Ok i see where your going with this poolser. and i think your genuine in your explanation, but if so why havent we ever seen a connection/interest from Stark or Fury...Deadpool has never been on their radar because of his unpredicatabilty and he cant be controlled (unless you theaten him but then hes coming back for you). You just have to look to any serious threat in the MU, weapon x comes to mind, they took on Deadpool at the request of Sabretooth because they thought DP was a liabilty for the team, eventually DP went nuts, and they were proven right.
I think Deadpool has his own motifs here and i think hes going to get on board a mother-ship and take it out of the sky, hes going to be a trojan horse. Then the MU proper will take notice of him and I think hes going to become a seriously chased after mercenary by all the villains (Dr. Doom & etc.) and even heroes (Nick Fury, Tony Stark & etc.) for their seedy goings on.
Ok i like the three personalities, especially the "white-box" as poolser calls it, the reason why i like the white-box, is because like Cable in the previous series it gives Deadpool someone or something to discuss his morals with and give us an insight into what he's about, and maybe I'm wrong here but the white box will hopefully be there to morally guide wade onto the right path into the future, giving what Deadpool has always needed DIRECTION. Its still early days yet in the title but I'm hoping that it moves towards bigger things and a big underlying plot...god d**n it DP deserves it! On the art note, its great!! Paco is perfect for the job, that anime/comic art definately works best for DP!! Reminds me of Alvin Lee and Patrick Z. I just hope he sticks around for at least a year so that people know this book is solid! And jump on board! And the covers by Clayton are the snizzle!! and issue twos cover is off the hook!! People will be taking notice with covers like that on the shelf!! But back to the issue I still think some of the gags need to be better, and yeah the gun thing, definately from the joker!! But it works....lol, i actually thought DP was gonna blow him away and show hes still a dark character and thats why it worked.
This issue had more of an old skool DP feel to it, than C&D issue one did, it definately showed promise!! Id recommend getting a copy, cant wait for issue 2!!

I am going to have to disagree with you on the whole regestered hero thing. Deadpool is a bomb. whatever he is around is usually covered in property damage. what better place to plant a bomb than right smack dab in the middle of skrull space. It is beginning to creep a little more toward old school deadpool. I do so miss the violent threats/quips. Just a hunch but the white box is gonna tie to the first new bad guy introduced. just conjecture though. A side note though, wasn't wades brain damage fix by cable? I really hope they don't throw out a lot of what happened in C and D.We have a monthly with a intruiging start and a great artidt. I really can't complain.

It was fun, Deadpool unpredictability was good. It will be interesting to find out what DP is up to.
My only issues are the White Boxes & Pool-O-Vision.
The reason is, dp has been self conflicted and had a diffrent view on life. We've never had either of these before, he's never needed them to be there, and to bring it in and say DP is like this kinda makes me mad. It's like telling the reader they don't understand how crazy DP is. It's like Way is yelling "LOOK READERS, HE'S TALKING TO HIMSELF" "LOOK READERS HE SEES THE WORLD AS ALL FUNNY".. I think it's a cheap attempt. and it is making it really hard for me to keep enjoying it for those reasons.

I didnt liked pool o vision aswell, the only time he has gotten all that crazy was when he was seeing Rabbits and girls pouring milk. And he recognized hes craziness and he got cured, if that wont go then at least I hope it doesnt be too frequent.
